    Groton — Rachael Dempsey had 12 kills and 11 digs for Fitch High School in its 25-23, 15-25, 25-18, 25-16 win over East Lyme on Wednesday in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division volleyball match.

    Courtney O'Hara added 14 kills for the Falcons (5-1, 2-1).

    Kacie Bayreuther had 18 kills for the Vikings (5-2, 1-1) and Becca Anderson added eight kills.

    In other matches:

    • Jen Escobido had 19 assists and eight digs as Norwich Free Academy beat Waterford, 25-14, 25-16, 25-23, in the ECC Large.

    Kastine Evans had 13 kills for NFA (6-1, 3-0) and Meaghan Doyle added seven kills. Katelyn Sykora had eight assists and two aces for the Lancers (2-4, 0-2) and Christine Hadfield had six kills.

    • Nina Wojtkiewicz had 15 kills and 15 assists, as Griswold swept Ledyard, 25-18, 25-10, 25-23, in the ECC Medium Division. Tessa Velasquez had 17 assists, four digs and one ace while Sam Rentz added 11 kills, eight aces and five digs for Griswold (3-2, 2-0). Darien Lopez had eight digs and Kristen Phrasavath had seven digs for the Colonels (2-5, 1-2).

    • Kelly Dixon had 13 digs and 12 kills for Bacon Academy in a 21-25, 25-11, 25-18, 27-25 win over Montville in the ECC Medium. Chelsea Ferro added 15 assists and eight digs for the Bobcats (5-1, 2-0) and Quinn Duffy had eight kills. Amanda Joyce had six kills for the Indians (1-6, 1-2).

    • Emily Martell had 15 digs for Wheeler in an 11-25, 25-7, 25-13, 25-23 win over New London in the ECC Small. Heather Sawyer added 17 service points for Wheeler (1-4, 1-2). Cherokee Loftis had five kills and a block for New London (0-5, 0-3.)

    • Barbara Massa had six kills and four digs for Old Lyme in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 loss to Coginchaug in a Shoreline Conference match. Colbey Kennedy added 10 assists and two digs for the Wildcats (0-6).

    Women's soccer

    • Connecticut College lost to Eastern Connecticut State University for the fourth time in the last five years, dropping a 2-1 decision. Brigi Palatino scored and Candice Clark had an assist for the Camels (3-4).

    Men's soccer

    • Eight players scored goals in Coast Guard Academy's 10-0 rout of Wheelock (0-6) in a nonconference game.

    Nick Devine scored two goals while Spencer Ross, Jacob Larsen, Frank Hackett, Anthony Walker, Kevin Noll, Peter Kelly and Chris Tarbell also scored for the Bears (4-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Tarbell, Will Leffler and Sean Newmeyer combined to make four saves.

    Women's field hockey

    • Kate Cushing had a goal and an assist to lead Wellesley College to a 3-1 victory at Connecticut College. Conn (3-3) had won six consecutive games in the rivalry. Kelsey Fredericks scored for the Camels, assisted by Bizzie Dow.

    Men's golf

    • Mitchell College tied for ninth in a 12-team field at the Blazers Invitational at Chicopee (Mass.) Country Club. Freshman Willard Visel led the Mariners with a career-low round of 90, finishing 36th overall.

    H.S. cross country

    • The Williams School boys' team won the Marianapolis Invitational, nipping runner-up Providence Country Day, 41-45, in the 13-team field. Lisle Schaeffer led the Blues, finishing first in 17 minutes, 40 seconds. Will McKenzie took fourth (18:29), Aaron Davis fifth (18:31) and Lee Cattanach ninth (18:58).

    • The Williams girls' team placed fourth out of nine teams in the Marianapolis Invitational. Kelly Kong and Ana Schavoir led the Blues, finishing fifth (23:38) and sixth (23:42), respectively. Kimmie Meneo was 25th in 26:05.
