Jogger Joe
Groton — Jim Roy won the Jogger Joe fun run, May 21, covering the 3-mile road race around Groton Long Point in a time of 20 minutes, 21 seconds.

The Jogger Joe runs have been taking place every Friday in May and June for more than 35 years.
Runners meet at 6 p.m. at the Esker Point Beach parking lot on Groton Long Point Road in Noank for a 1.5-mile warm-up, followed by a 3-mile, self-timed race about 6:20. The flat, fast course begins and ends at the parking lot.
Though the races are informal, with no entry fees or registration, past competitors have included Boston Marathon winners, Olympians and world-class runners as well as casual joggers.
