    Recent results from the Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey League:

    ■ SEC Squirt A opened the season with an 11-3 win over Whalers Squirt B in Cromwell. Grayson Colvin scored four goals to lead the Seahawks, followed by Ryan Huta with three goals and two assists, Latham Woodman and Zach Bradley each with a goal and an assist and Ryan LoVetere and Kyle Coblentz with one goal each. Adam Shobe had two assists and Riley Jordan, Sean Flynn and Colin Larkin one assist each. Max Tapia got the win in goal.

    ■ SEC Pee Wee A got two goals in the first period from Brayden LoVetere to top Bolton Pee Wee B 8-2 at the Bolton Ice Palace. Will Vorra, Kevin Close and Taylor Huta also scored in the first period as the Seahawks took the early lead.

    ■ Kiefer Stroebel scored the game’s only goal for Bantam A in a 1-0 victory over the Greater New Haven Warriors Bantam A1 team. The Seahawks had 30 shots on goal, but Strobel, assisted by Dylan O’Leary, was the only one who could convert. Shaun LoVetere had 15 saves for the shutout.

    ■ Bantam A scored four times in the first period, two by Dylan O’Leary, to beat Yale Bantam A 8-3. Ben Thompson had a goal and two assists for SEC and Kiefer Stroebel and Andrew Leardi each had a goal and an assist. Drew Bradley, Logan Morin and Tyler Faulkner added goals and Jarrett Hebert had an assist.

    ■ The Seahawks Pee Wee A team defeated Ridgefield Lions Pee Wee A-1 5-2 at the Norwich Ice Rink. Zachary Burnham scored unassisted in the second and third periods to lead the Seahawks and Brendan Allen, Will Vorra and Taylor Huta added goals. Huta also had a pair of assists and Justice Ford and Ben Armor combined for 21 saves in goal.

    Montville — The St. Bernard Middle School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams each swept a season-opening tri-meet on Sept. 22.

    The boys’ team took the top two places overall to beat St. John’s of Old Saybrook 21-38 and Fishers Island School 14-44. Connor Gralton was first in 9 minutes, 45 seconds, followed by Ryan Londregan, also in 9:45.

    Morgane Butler (11:46) and Emma Buckridge also had a 1-2 finish for the girls’ team, which defeated St. John’s 18-45 and Fishers Island 22-42.
