    Tigers split doubleheader with Cyclones

    Norwich — The Connecticut Tigers split a doubleheader with the Brooklyn Cyclones in a New York-Penn League doubleheader on Monday at Dodd Stadium.

    Brooklyn (24-49) won the opener 2-1 before the Tigers (36-35) captured the second game 2-0, ending the Cyclones' five-game winning streak.

    Connecticut ends its home season at 7 p.m. Tuesday before finish the year on Wednesday and Thursday at the Tri-City ValleyCats.

    Jose Vasquez, Burris Warner (3-1), Max Green and Will Vest (second save) combined to pitch a two-hitter in the nightcap for Connecticut.

    The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first on hits by Luke Burch, Garrett McCain and Jordan Pearce before scoring an insurance run in the sixth when Pearce scored on an RBI single by Dylan Rosa.

    In the opener, Teddy Hoffman scored on a wild pitch to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the third, but Brooklyn's Jeremy Vasquez laced a two-run single to center in the fourth and pitching made it hold up as the Cyclones won their fifth straight.
