    Local roundup: Schooners topple Ocean State 7-1 in NECBL

    Groton — Four Mystic pitchers combined to allow just four hits as the Schooners rolled to a 7-1 victory over the Ocean State Waves in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game on Sunday night at Fitch High School.

    East Lyme's Trystan Levesque (Rhode Island), the second of four pitchers, earned the win with three shutout innings of two-hit ball. The four Mystic pitchers walked only two batters and struck out nine.

    Barry Walsh (Boston College) went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to lead the Schooners (9-8) while Charlie Pagliarini (Fairfield) added a two-run single and Stanton Leuthner (Stony Brooke) had two hits and drove in a run.

    Ocean State is 6-11.

    • Justin Guerrera (Fairfield) hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning Saturday to lift the Newport Gulls to a 4-2 victory over Mystic at Fitch. Brendan Cumming (Princeton) had two hits and Pagliarini hit a solo homer in the second inning for Mystic. Anthony Mozzicato (Central Connecticut) started and pitched three no-hit innings for the Schooners.

    FCBL

    • Peter DeMaria (Tufts) went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and three runs as the Westfield Starfires routed the Norwich Sea Unicorns 16-3 in the FCBL. Westfield is 12-12. Tyler Wells (New Haven) and Tremayne Cobb (Hartford) drove in runs for Norwich (14-14).

    ECML

    • Five pitchers limited Three Rivers to just three hits as the Padres rolled to a 10-0 victory over Three Rivers in an Eastern Connecticut Major League game at Washington Park in Groton. Andrew Fogarty and Jack Turner each had two hits and two RBI for the Padres while Ken Olszewski singled twice and scored two runs, Josh Gurnack and Beriah Smith had two hits apiece and Mike Evans added a double.

    College honors

    • Several local student-athletes were named to the Spring Semester Dean's List at Endicott College (minimum grade point average of 3.5). They are:

    Julia Adrian (Noank), women's cross country and track; David Aristi (Groton), men's cross country; Margaret Berger (Old Lyme), women's lacrosse; Joshua Brown (Norwich), football; Alex Rose (East Lyme), women's lacrosse; Rachell Wells (Colchester), equestrian.
