POLICE STUN MAN WHO FLED DURING QUESTIONING

Griswold - A state police trooper used a stun gun on a Plainfield man when he fled from police who were questioning him about recent larcenies.

Chalres Denning, 22, of 55 Putnam Road, Plainfield, was charged with interfering with police.

Police spotted Denning walking along Main Street in Jewett City about 1 a.m. Monday. They stopped to talk with him because he matched the description of a suspect caught on video surveillance cameras breaking into cars in the area, according to an arrest summary.

While police questioned Denning, he suddenly fled. After a brief foot pursuit, he was arrested with the help of a stun gun.

Denning allegedly confessed to police that he was responsible for some of the larcenies.

Police are continuing to investigate the break-ins.

Denning was released on $5,000 bond and is due in Norwich Superior Court Aug. 27.
