New London — A New London man was arrested Thursday after police said he removed all the copper pipes from his home, leaving six children at the Vauxhall Street residence without heat.
Robert McClardy, 41, of 358 Vauxhall St., was charged with six counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Police said that McClardy removed copper pipes from his residence because he wanted to resell them. When he removed the pipes, he dismantled the home's heating system.
Police said the Department of Children and Families has been notified.
Police said no further information on the case would be released.
