Police identify victim in hit-and-run accident

New London — Police have identified the pedestrian struck by a car Friday night on Colman Street as 58-year-old Idel Beddoe of New London.

Beddoe remains in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was struck shortly before 9:30 p.m. as she was crossing Colman Street near Redden Avenue.

The driver, Felipe Echavarria, 24, of 178 Montauk Ave., was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle while intoxicated, evading responsibility, possession of narcotics and driving while intoxicated.

The accident remains under investigation.
