    Preston drug bust yields numerous bags of heroin, cocaine

    Montville - The Statewide Narcotic Task Force arrested two Preston residents Thursday on several drug charges following an extensive investigation, state police said.

    Sergio Mendez, 26, and Marissa Ann Schimelfanick, 21, both of 203 Route 165, were each charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

    Police said they seized 256 individual bags of heroin, 46 individual bags of powder cocaine (29.2 grams) and $1,064 in cash.

    The Norwich Police Department assisted in the investigation.

    Mendez and Schimelfanick were held on $150,000 bond each and will appear in Norwich court on Friday.

    The east office of the State Narcotic Task Force includes members of the state police and Groton City, Willimantic, New London and Putnam police departments.
