    Stonington police announce results of 'Click It or Ticket' campaign

    Stonington — Police announced today that they issued 81 infractions for failure to wear a seat belt during their recent Click It or Ticket Campaign from May 21 to June 3. In addition, police charged drivers people with 38 other offenses such as speeding, using a cell phone while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving with a suspended license.

    During the period police set up checkpoints around town to check if drivers were wearing seatbelts.

    A survey taken after the enforcement showed that 96 percent of drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts compared to 87 percent before the enforcement period began.
