Elvis Presley impersonator, wife arrested for leaving children alone in hotel room

Ledyard — An Elvis Presley impersonator and his wife were arrested early Wednesday morning after police said they left their two children unattended in a hotel room.

Police said at 2:51 a.m. they were dispatched to the Two Trees Hotel on Indiantown Road, where they found a 7-month-old boy and a 2-year-old boy alone in a hotel room.

About 30 minutes after police arrived at the hotel, the children's mother Deborah Hundley, 27, of Lincoln, Neb. returned to the room.

Hundley told police that she left the children alone for about 10 minutes to smoke but video footage showed that she was gone for an hour.

Police said she pleaded with them to arrest her and not the children's father who was performing at the Legends Concert series at Foxwoods Resort Casino as an Elvis Presley impersonator. She said she didn't want her husband to get bad publicity.

The father, 22-year-old Tyler Hunter arrived at the room and became belligerent with police and demanded that they decide what they were going to do because he had a show at 1 p.m. and needed to get some sleep.

Video footage showed that he left the children shortly after midnight and didn't return to the room until after police got there.

Both Hundley and Hunter were charged with risk of injury to a minor and were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in New London Superior.

The children were left with an adult friend of the parents. The incident was referred to the state Department of Children and Families.
