After days of threatened storms, the rain has finally arrived.

Roads quickly flooded with a foot or more of water, including on Water Street in front of the New London train station and on Mitchell Street in Groton in front of Washington Park.

The heavy downpour appears to have caught some drivers by surprise. One man is sitting in his car, submerged about halfway in water, on Bank Street between Howard and Tilley streets, near The Pub restaurant.

Another car, stuck farther up Bank Street near the Walgreens, has since been moved off the road.
