New London – Two workers building a chiller plant at the Coast Guard Academy suffered minor injuries when they were struck by falling rebar.
Coast Guard spokesperson Kimberly Smith said one worker received treatment on the scene and the second was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and was treated and released.
Carl Hubbell, vice president of operations for the construction company Tetra Tech Tesoro, said one of the workers received three stitches on the ear and a bruised knee after the rebar slipped loose from a wall they were building.
