Operation S.A.N.T.A. yields drunken driving arrests, traffic violations

As part of a statewide campaign to target distracted driving, cellphone use while driving and seat belt use, state police have reported making 29 drunken driving arrests and issuing 451 speeding infractions between Christmas Eve and midnight Wednesday.
State police also reported four fatalities in that time period, according to a press release from State Police Lt. J Paul Vance.
As part of Operation S.A.N.T.A. (Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident), state police also issued 17 seat belt infractions and 857 hazardous moving violations, and reported 364 accidents with 38 injuries.
