Salem — State police from Troop K are investigating the Thursday morning robbery of the Chelsea Groton Bank at 2 Salem Marketplace near the intersections of Routes 82 and 85.

The robbery was reported at 9:55 a.m.  Police described the robber as a white male between the ages of 50 to 60 years old and is about 5 feet, 3 inches tall. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue, denim-style jacket, white sneakers and a tan baseball cap.

Witnesses said the suspect entered the bank, implied that he had a weapon and demanded money. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.

State police K-9 teams along with the state aviation unit responded. Police from surrounding areas were also given a description of the suspect.
