    K2, cash seized from local New London business

    New London — A local man was arrested Tuesday on numerous drug charges after police seized about 500 packages of K2, a synthetic form of marijuana, during a raid at the Sam’s Food/Ravi Petro convenience store at 290 Broad St.

    Police charged Sunny Singh, 26, of 150 Broad St., Apt. 2, with operating a drug factory, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school.

    Singh was employed as a store clerk, police said.

    New London police said they were conducting an investigation into the illegal sale of K2 at the Broad Street store. The Vice Intelligence Section and the Intelligence Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

    In addition to seizing the drugs, police confiscated more than $34,000 in cash, about 1,000 items of drug paraphernalia, narcotics packaging materials, cutting agents, scales and concealment devices.

    Police also seized illegally copied DVD movies and illegal weapons, including brass knuckles and switch blade knives.

    Singh is being held on a $25,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in New London Superior Court.
