Liquor control agents inspect, arrests made in New London

New London – An inspection Friday in New London by liquor control agents from the state Department of Consumer Protection and city police resulted in arrests and citations at several establishments.

The agents cited Exchange Bar & Grill, 74 Bank St. for both failing to have age statement forms on site and failing to cooperate with or give information to the department during the inspection.

The Buckley House, 111 Bank St., was issued a citation for violating a statute that prohibits refilling liquor bottles or containers. The agents also found fruit flies in liquor bottles there and cited the establishment for a fire code violation.

The Brass Rail, 52 Bank St., was cited when a minor was found loitering in the barroom. City police charged the 17-year-old woman with criminal impersonation after she used another person's identification card to enter the Brass Rail's age-21-and-over section and then presented the same ID to police.

Police also arrested Jose Ortiz, 23, of 10 Railroad Ave., Norwich, on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.
