Police seize synthetic marijuana from Niantic smoke shop

East Lyme — Police said they seized nearly 700 packets of illegal synthetic marijuana from Sergey’s Smoke Shop at 170 Flanders Road in Niantic Friday following a two-month investigation into alleged sales of the illegal drug.

East Lyme police and the East Lyme resident state trooper, with assistance by the Eastern Office of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, conducted the search-and-seizure warrant at 3 p.m. Friday and reported seizing 686 packets of synthetic marijuana with a street value of $10,290. Police also seized $1,254.62 in cash.

No arrests were reported as a result of the investigation.
