Guns, drugs confiscated following anonymous tips

Norwich — Three firearms, 3.2 pounds of marijuana, 10 grams of cocaine and more than $1,800 in cash were recovered by police Tuesday afternoon as a result of a narcotics investigation on Pearl Street, police said.

Members of the police department’s detective and patrol divisions, with the assistance of the community policing unit, executed a search-and-seizure warrant at 60 Pearl St., Apt. A, around 3:30 p.m. after receiving numerous complaints on the department’s anonymous tip line.

Raquel N. Baker, 43, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the search of Baker’s apartment, police found three firearms: a Hi-Point 9 mm with a high-capacity magazine, a Smith and Wesson .380 with a laser sight, an H&R Arms .32 revolver and several rounds of ammunition.

Baker was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Wednesday.

Police said additional arrests are anticipated, as one of the targets of the search-and-seizure warrant was not home at the time the warrant was served.
