Norwich - Two men were arrested Friday after police said they found several animals living in an apartment in deplorable conditions.

Timothy Park, 23, of 66 Baltic St., 2nd floor, was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of failure to vaccinate.   

John S. Uzialko Jr. , 21, also of 66 Baltic St., 2nd floor, was charged with one count of cruelty to animals.

Lt. Albert Costa said the Animal Control Office on Friday received an anonymous complaint of animals being kept in deplorable conditions at the Baltic Street apartment.

Animal Control Officer Michele Kellough investigated and found the residence to be filthy and in disarray, Costa said. A dog was found locked in a bedroom and was covered with feces and three cats were found locked in a bathroom in similar condition. Officials from Uncas Health were notified and responded.

The animals were seized and are being held in protective custody at the Norwich Police Department dog pound.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on May 23.
