Power has been restored to the homes left in the dark after a tree fell onto the power lines off Route 1.

Power was restored at 5:20 p.m., less than an hour after crews were first called out to Route 1 at 4:30 p.m. to investigate the cause of power outage that impacted 350 households.

Herb Cummings, GU’s electrical division manager, said the tree disrupted power to a main electrical line, leading to loss of power to homes along Route 1, Route 117 and other areas including Groton Long Point.
