Norwich police arrest former police officer on public indecency charge

Norwich – A former police officer was arrested Wednesday for the second time this month after police said he exposed himself to three young women.

Alfred L. Lamarche, 58, of 30 Warren St., was charged with three counts of public indecency and three counts of breach of peace. He was a former police officer in Ledyard and Jewett City.

Police said that Lamarche’s latest arrest stemmed from a further investigation by Officer Steven DeLoreto into recent public indecency complaints.

Sgt. Michael Belair said DeLoreto was able to link two previous complaints to Lamarche and another woman came forward after reading a newspaper report on Lamarche’s arrest on June 3.

In the earlier incident, Norwich police said he exposed himself to a high school student as she walked to her bus stop on Prospect Street.

Police said when they responded to the scene, the girl said the man had also exposed himself to her on Friday as she walked to her bus stop.

The victim gave police a description of Lamarche along with a description of the car that he was driving.

As a result of an investigation, DeLoreto with the assistance of dispatcher Jarrell Roberts, found Lamarche at his residence.

Lamarche posted a $90,000 bond in his latest arrest and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on June 20.
