Montville to swear in new officer

Montville — The Montville Police Department is swearing in a new police officer Friday at Town Hall.
Matt Shepard, 35, of Ledyard, will begin his 22 week police training Wednesday at the Connecticut Municipal Training Police Academy in Meriden.
Shepard is a 1995 graduate of Gardner High School in Gardner, Mass.
He is married and has a son. He currently works for the United Parcel Service.
After his graduation from the academy in December, he will undergo 14 weeks of field training before being assigned patrol duties.
