Groton City employee accused of stealing funds
Groton — An employee of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department was arrested today on charges that she allegedly stole more than $2,000 in public money.
Donna Peirson, 57, of 8 Florence Court, Mystic, was charged with first-degree larceny.
City police said that they conducted a months-long investigation into the missing money from the city’s beach and parks department fund. A warrant in the case was not available.
According to Groton City’s website, Peirson was an administrative assistant in the Parks and Recreation Department.
Police said that Peirson turned herself in and was released on a promise to appear in court. She is scheduled to appear at G.A. 10 in New London on Aug. 8.
