New London police make car burglary arrest

    Joseph Allen

New London — Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a car burglary early Monday morning who they say is also a suspect in other recent car burglaries.

Joseph Allen, of 9 Wausau Place, was charged Monday with interfering with an officer, possession of hallucinogens, third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

Police responded at 1:45 a.m. Monday to a report of two men breaking into a vehicle near Riverview Avenue. Within minutes of responding, police stopped Allen two blocks away from the incident, according to police.

During an investigation, police found electronic items in Allen's knapsack that were found to have been stolen from another vehicle. Allen, who at first gave police a false name, also had synthetic marijuana on him, according to police.

Police are preparing warrants for Allen, who they said is suspected in connection with car burglaries over the past few weeks. Police have also identified an additional suspect and said the investigation is ongoing.

Police ask anyone with information related to the incident to call (860) 447-5269.
