Police say man threatened elderly driver with knife

    Reynaldo Guevarro

New London – Police say they have arrested a 59-year-old man who allegedly wielded a knife to threaten an elderly man in a car.

Reynaldo Guevarro of no certain address was charged Thursday with second-degree breach of peace, possession of a dangerous weapon and second-degree threatening.

An elderly man reported that at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, he was driving a car on Masonic Street near the U.S. Post Office when he abruptly stopped his car to avoid striking a man walking into the roadway, according to police.

Police say the pedestrian then approached the driver and started a verbal confrontation, during which he took out a large folding knife and used it to threaten the driver.

After the elderly man filed the report, officers found, identified and arrested Guevarro on State Street by the Parade.

Guevarro was transported by police to GA10 for arraignment.
