New London – Three-year police Officer Jeremy Zelinski has been named the 2013 New London VFW Officer of the Year.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said Zelinski was unanimously selected by the command staff at the department.

"Although his tenure as a police officer has not been long, Officer Zelinski has distinguished himself as a true professional and a highly motivated police officer," according to the post on the department's Facebook page. "His work ethic and determination to serve our community is truly commendable."
