    Norwich drug raid leads to cocaine and arrest

    Norwich – City police on Friday charged a Kennedy Drive resident with multiple drug-related crimes in connection with the possession and processing of cocaine.

    With a warrant in hand, Norwich police joined with members of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force's East Office shortly before noon to search a residence at 5 Kennedy Drive. Police said they seized more than an ounce of cocaine, cutting agents and packaging material, along with $398 in cash.

    The home is located within a public housing complex and next door to Teachers' Memorial Middle School.

    Police charged 35-year-old Carlos Rivera with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine within 1,500 feet of a school and operating a drug factory.

    Rivera was released on a $50,000 nonsurety bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 31 in Norwich Superior Court.
