Fire damages garage and shed in Ledyard

Ledyard – A garage and shed, along with a vehicle, were damaged Thursday afternoon during a fire in the area of 592 Lantern Hill Road, near the border with North Stonington.

Firefighters from departments in Ledyard, North Stonington, Groton and Preston, along with a firefighter assistance team from the Mohegan Tribal Department, were called to respond at about 3:15 p.m.

Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein, in a written statement, said police officers also responded and found that a garage and outbuilding were fully involved in fire. Tankers from surrounding towns were called in to supply water.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, Finkelstein said, and limited damage to the garage and an outbuilding. A vehicle parked in the driveway was also damaged.

There were no injuries to any residents or emergency responders, he said.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department and Ledyard fire marshal.
