    Two people arrested in New London as police searched for reported armed man

    New London — Police arrested two people Wednesday afternoon after responding to the area of Truman Street for a report that a man was in the area with a handgun.

    Police said at about 3:37 p.m. they received a 911 call to report that a man in the area of 73 Truman St. had a handgun. The description of the suspect was broadcast to responding police units.

    Police stopped a male who was accompanied by a female on Blinman Street. Police said the woman was in possession of 8.5 grams of crack cocaine that was packaged for street sales.

    Police charged Travon Johnson, 32, of 615 Bank St., Unit B, with breach of peace. He was held on a $1,500 bond, pending his arraignment today in New London Superior Court.

    Deborah D. Traynham, 41, of 22 Grand St., was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and second-degree failure to appear in court. She is being held on a total of $10,000 cash bond, pending her arraignment today in New London Superior Court.
