Woman charged in New London robbery

    Jennifer Anderson

New London – City police have arrested the first of three suspects in a Nov. 14 robbery at the Orient Express Market at 92 Truman St.

Jennifer Anderson, 36, of 103 Truman St. was charged by warrant with second-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. She was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Police allege Anderson was one of the three people who entered the store on the morning of Nov. 14 and caused a disturbance to distract the owner's attention and lure him from behind the cash register.

When the owner attempted to call 911, police said one person pushed him away from the register while another grabbed about $300 in cash from the register. The trio fled on foot and then got in a light brown or tan Toyota four-door sedan that was last seen traveling west on Truman Street.

Police said the robbery was committed by one white woman and the two black men.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call New London police detectives at (860) 447-1481. All information will remain confidential.
