    State police monitoring highways during New Year's holiday

    State police will continue to monitor all highways and roads during the New Year’s holiday.

    There will be roving patrols of both marked and unmarked cruisers and sobriety checkpoints that will search for drunken drivers and other reckless drivers.

    During the last holiday period, police arrested 28 people for drunken driving, issued 572 speeding tickets and another 1,279 citations for various motor vehicle offenses.

    People are encouraged to call 911 if they suspect someone is driving drunk.
