East Hampton - A portion of Route 16 near the Colchester town line is closed this afternoon due to a serious crash involving two vehicles.

Police say two Life Star helicopters were requested at the scene. The crash was first reported shortly after 3 p.m. in the area of Flatbrook Road, according to the state Department of Transportation. Several local fire departments have joined police in the response.
