New London - One person was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital this evening to be treated for burns suffered in a small kitchen fire, officials said.

Just after 7:15 p.m., firefighters responded to 123 Connecticut Ave. for a report of a fire. By the time they arrived, most of the fire was out, Battalion Chief Keith Nichols said.

Nichols said the fire inspector's office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

No further information was immediately available.
