New London police chase ends with crash, arrest
New London – A man driving a car reported to be stolen led police on a chase through the city on Friday that ended with a crash into a cement barrier at Waterfront Park.
Police have not yet released details of the entire incident, which started with a 7 p.m. report of a brawl on Williams Street, in the area of Mr. G's Restaurant. Multiple New London police vehicles were parked on Williams Street investigating when law enforcement agencies across the region were informed of a man driving a stolen vehicle out of New London who may be armed.
Shortly after, New London police spotted the vehicle and gave chase. Within an hour of the first report, police had surrounded a Subaru station wagon at the south end of Waterfront Park off Bank Street.
Police confirmed one man was in custody and that further information was forthcoming.
