State police arrest man involved in Preston stabbing

Preston — Police have arrested a 40-year-old man they say was responsible for a stabbing that occurred Friday afternoon after a fight escalated inside a Preston home.

Jason Thornton and an unidentified man he had gotten into a fight with at 38A Route 2A were both injured in the incident, which was reported at 12:46 p.m. Friday, state police said.

Both parties were treated at The William W. Backus Hospital. Thornton was then released to state police custody in the Montville barracks, police said.

Thornton was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct and was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said it appears that the injuries to Thornton were self-inflicted.
