Two treated for carbon monoxide exposure in New London

New London – Two people were taken to the hospital on Friday afternoon for treatment of carbon monoxide exposure, and several others were evacuated from a multi-family home at 329 Broad St.

New London Fire Department Battalion Chief Keith Nichols said testing determined the home contained high levels of carbon monoxide, likely a result of furnace problems. Two people were taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Nichols said firefighters ventilated the home to clear the air but he was unsure whether residents would be able to return for the night. Because of the frigid temperatures, Nichols said, he planned to call in the American Red Cross to provide housing for an unknown number of tenants.

The homeowner is listed in city records as the estate of Mark Delgrosso and co-owner Lori Delgrosso of Waterford.
