    Plainfield police search for robbery suspect

    Plainfield police said this man attempted to rob Thursday night the Country Farms convenience in the Wauregan Village section of town.

    Plainfield — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a man who attempted to rob the Country Farms convenience store in the Wauregan Village section of town Thursday night.

    Police said they were dispatched to the store for an attempted armed robbery at 8:50 p.m.

    They said the man, who is about 20 to 30 years old, entered the store wearing a dark sweatshirt, dark pants and a flat, brimmed ball cap. Police said the man is white and about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He has a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

    The suspect told the clerk that he had a knife; the two were involved in an minor altercation.

    Police said the suspect fled on foot in the area of North Walnut Street without money. A K-9 search of the area was unsuccessful.

    Video surveillance uncovered that the suspect had been casing the store throughout the day. Prior to the robbery, police said the suspect was in the store for 45 minutes.
