New London police charge Hartford man in alleged sexual assaults

    Javier DeJesus

New London – Police arrested a 34-year-old Hartford man Monday on charges he sexually molested two young girls who were the daughters of a friend.

Javier DeJesus, with a last known address of 67 Williams St., No. 4, Hartford, turned himself in after learning of a warrant obtained by detectives for his arrest. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, or illegal sexual contact.

Police started investigation on March 6 following a complaint lodged by the mother of two girls. Police said the girls allege DeJesus had them perform sexual acts on him, and he on them, while he was at their New London home. Police said the incidents occurred over the past year.

Held in lieu of a $500,000 bond, DeJesus is due to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
