Ledyard man charged with DUI at Gales Ferry McDonald's
Ledyard — A resident reportedly driving erratically through town was charged early Wednesday morning with drunken driving after he was spotted leaving the drive-thru of the Gales Ferry McDonald's restaurant.
Jeffrey Morton, 62, of 68 Partridge Hollow Road was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
According to a release, police received a call about 12:50 a.m. reporting an erratic driver who pulled into the drive-thru of the McDonald's on Route 12. A "be on the look out" request for the vehicle was issued, and the car was located shortly after while leaving the restaurant parking lot.
Police said Morton failed a sobriety test and was transported, then later released on a $500 nonsurety bond. He is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Jan. 24.
