Norwich liquor compliance sweep leads to one arrest

Norwich — Police say a liquor compliance sweep of 17 establishments led to one arrest on Wednesday.

Police accused Jayden Boursiquot, 18, of 363 Boswell Ave. of selling alcohol to a minor at Big Y at 224 Salem Turnpike, police said in a news release Wednesday night. Police released Boursiquot on a $500 nonsurety bond and he is due in court on Sept. 19. The Big Y location will be referred to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Division of Liquor Control, for possible license or permit sanctions, police said.

All 16 other locations refused to sell alcohol to minors during the checks, which were conducted in conjunction with Norwich Youth and Family Services and the State Liquor Commission. Police said they would continue to partner with Youth and Family Services, the Norwich Prevention Council and the Southeastern Region Action Council to combat underage drinking.
