Police: Mystic man accidentally shot woman while under the influence
Groton — Town Police arrested a Mystic man early Sunday morning after they say he accidentally shot a woman in the foot while under the influence.
The woman was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Leo B. Isif, 44, of 335 Judson Ave., Mystic, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Police initially responded about 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm in the back of a Mystic residence.
After investigating, police learned that Isif had been sitting with other people when he removed a small-caliber firearm from his holster. The firearm discharged one shot across from where he was sitting and struck the woman in the foot, causing a minor injury, the police report stated.
