Three facing drug, firearms charges after traffic stop in East Lyme

East Lyme — A traffic stop led to three arrests on drug and firearm charges late Friday, police say, and turned up a gun reported stolen hundreds of miles away more than 40 years ago.

About 11:45 p.m. Friday, a town officer on patrol spotted two vehicles speeding on Main Street in Niantic. Officers were able to stop one of the vehicles near Cini Park, according to a news release issued by police Chief Michael Finkelstein.

Officers said they found two handguns, drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. One of the guns had been reported stolen from the city of Detroit in 1979, the release said.

Amirh Brackett-White, 20, of Middletown was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, having a weapon in a vehicle, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana and speeding. He was being held on a $1,500 bond.

Norlandio Gautier, 28, of Meriden, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held on a $5,000 nonsurety bond.

Maurice Brackett, 19, of Middletown was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, having a weapon in a vehicle and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. He was being held on a $1,500 bond.

All three are due to appear June 30 in the Geographical Area 10 courthouse in New London.
