Police: Pawcatuck man transported to hospital with third-degree burns

Stonington — A man was taken via Life Star to Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday after getting third-degree burns while burning something outside his home in Pawcatuck, police said.
Stonington Police Lt. Mike Peckham said Westerly Ambulance, Pawcatuck Fire Department and Stonington Police Department responded to the incident at 3:55 p.m.
Peckham said it was some sort of outdoor fire and the man ended up getting burned in the process. The incident is under investigation. He said the man was conscious and alert but had third-degree burns to his extremities.
No further information was immediately available.
