North Stonington man now facing second armed robbery charge

A North Stonington man who was charged with robbing a Groton convenience store at gunpoint on Jan. 23 now faces robbery charges in North Stonington.

Corby Stedman, 26, of 48 Boombridge Road, was charged Thursday by state police with first-degree robbery, second-degree breach of peace and first-degree threatening in connection with a Jan. 24 robbery at a Citgo gas station in North Stonington.

Corrections department records show he is being held on a $280,000 bond at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Montville.

On Feb. 3, Groton Town Police charged Stedman with robbing the Henny Penny at 1270 Gold Star Highway in Groton just past midnight on Jan. 23.  Police said in that incident, Stedman allegedly entered the business, brandished a firearm and demanded the store clerk open the cash register. He left with an undetermined amount of cash. Stedman turned himself in to police after they obtained an warrant for his arrest.
