Man charged with pointing gun at woman while driving in Old Lyme

Old Lyme — A man was charged with pointing a gun at another driver while he was driving on Interstate 95 in Old Lyme on Monday, police said.

A woman called 911 about 4 p.m. Monday and told police that while she was driving south on I-95 near Exit 70, a man who was passing her in the left lane pointed a gun at her, according to Connecticut State Police Troop F.

Troopers spotted the tan Ram pickup truck with Maine license plates that the woman described near Exit 66. Multiple state police vehicles responded to box in the truck, forcing the driver to stop.

Police patted down the driver — identified as 55-year-old Noah P. Jones of 8 Blackwell Road, Old Lyme — and found an empty gun holster on his waistband. They then found a gun tucked under the back seat, police said.

Jones was charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree threatening and first-degree reckless endangerment. He is scheduled to appear in court in New London on Dec. 7, police said.
