Norwich woman charged with DUI after crashing into a firetruck

Norwich ― A Norwich woman was charged with driving under the influence early Monday after police say she crashed into a Norwich firetruck that had responded to an accident on Stonington Road.

Jennifer M. LeBlanc, 39, of 76 Palmer St., #1, was charged at 1:14 a.m. with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and failure to drive right. She was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court Jan. 31.

Police said the Norwich Fire Department had responded to an accident at 29 Stonington Road when LeBlanc drove her vehicle into the firetruck. Police conducted a field sobriety test and said LeBlanc failed.

Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Montoya said there were no injuries to firefighters or bystanders during the crash. Damage to the firetruck was minor, Montoya said.
