Groton City Police: woman being arrested spewed racist slurs at Black officers

Groton ― City police say a Gales Ferry woman is facing charges after she was involved in a fight and then spewed racist slurs at Black police officers trying to arrest her.

Kristy A. Limpert, 49, of 23 Washington Drive, Gales Ferry, was charged April 25 with third-degree assault, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, assault on a public safety/emergency medical/transit/health worker, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree intimidation due to bias.

At 5:57 p.m. on April 25, a caller reported to police that two people were fighting on her lawn, according to a arrest records.

Police Capt. Patricia Lieteau said there was a domestic disturbance in which two individuals were physically fighting.

According to Lieteau, when Limpert was being arrested for that altercation, she pulled away from the police officers, and when they gained control of her, she started flailing her arms and yelling. When the police officers walked her to the police car, she kicked one of the officers in the knee.

Lieteau said Limpert was spewing racist slurs at the two officers, who are Black.

Another individual was arrested due to the fight, police said.

Limpert has been released on a $20,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court May 4.
