Norwich man, who went to hospital with stab wounds, now facing charges

Norwich ― A Norwich man who was treated at Backus Hospital after being stabbed, has now been charged with with disorderly conduct, second-degree strangulation, and three counts of third-degree assault for his alleged role in the incident that led to his stabbing.

Kelvin Perez-Guzman, 25, of 181 Sandy Lane, turned himself in Thursday after police obtained a warrant for his arrest.

According to police, the charges were the result of a May 14 investigation. Police said an officer was sent to Backus after Perez-Guzman was reported to be suffering from non life-threatening stab wounds.

According to police, while they were gathering information from Perez-Guzman, people who were identified as victims/witnesses, went to the police department indicating Perez-Guzman was the aggressor and he had physically assaulted victims at a residence in the city.

“ As a means of helping/defending the victim(s) the accused was stabbed by an individual at the scene,” police said.

Police, who said other people may be charged in the incident, said they continue to investigate. Police said no more information is available at this time.
