New London residence damaged by gunfire

New London ― Police are investigating a shooting late Tuesday in the area of Blackhall and Belden streets.

Gunfire was reported to police at 10:38 p.m. No injuries were reported but police said they found multiple bullet shell casings in the area and determined a nearby home was damaged by gun fire.

In a statement released on Wednesday, police said detectives have collected evidence, processed the scene and canvassed the neighborhood as part of the search for the culprits.

The incident does not appear to be a random act, Captain Matthew Galante said in a statement. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police detectives at 860-447-1481 or submit anonymous information to the 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (8474111).
